Wrought iron is absolutely beautiful, and I like it so much that I have been decorating my home with it for years. Just imagine my delight when I found some lovely metal wall sconces to add to my collection. I liked them so much that I put some in almost every room in my home. These metal sconces come in a variety of unique styles like battery operated, electrical, or even a practical metal candle sconce. With all these different styles available, you will be able to turn just about any room into your home into a work of art.
The sconce is a wall fixture which can be electric or feature candles. Reminiscent of medieval times, however, they were widely used in the XVII century and still are popular choice in lighting fixtures to decorate your wall space, interior and exterior. It is during this time period that lighting experts believe the sconce started to develop as a fashionable piece in additional to being practical. In Italy, a mirrored piece was used behind the sconce to create illumination. It was also the Italians who began to design a more elaborate sconce by adding the sconce to corbels. It was not uncommon for sconces to be large sized at that time, they varied in high from 1‘-5‘. But keep in mind the sconces were featured in large places, such as castles and churches. The sconce of today is usually much smaller and appropriate to the size of the rooms in homes. Architects and interior decorators use sconces to decorate as a staple of their design scheme. The sconce never fails to deliver in creating style and atmosphere.
Other possible choices include wrought iron candle wall sconces. These sturdy pieces give a rustic look to your walls while still casting that soothing candlelight. Wrought iron sconces are generally handmade and are often combined with mirrored elements. They also harken back to an era where candles were the main source of light, so they add an antique flavor to your home.
However, I did run into a slight dilemma in the beginning. A lot of the metal wall sconces that I wanted for my home were a bit pricy. However, I did a little research, and I found a few web sites on-line that sold wrought iron wall sconces and they were more affordable than going to a regular store.
Add mood lighting to a master bedroom and multiply it twofold with the addition of stylish mirrors and candle wall sconces. Select a bare space across from the master bed, and hang a beautiful framed mirror. Surround the mirror with stylish candle wall sconces filled with fragrant mood-enhancing candles. Vanilla or soft musk is especially alluring. Light the candles on a dark night or during the afternoon when the drapes are pulled. The candles will create a stunning and romantic display that is certain to take your breath away.
