The Mission Style: Craftsman wall sconces have a distinct basic style with strong structure, clean lines, and organic materials such as mica, wood, and copper. It focuses on a handmade look in contract to a factory reproduction. The Mission style emerged from the Arts and Crafts period and is still quite popular today. This style has primitive, plain lines and usually displays darker, warmer finishes.
Traditional: Traditional wall sconces have easy curves and graceful scrolled arms, and are often constructed of copper, brass or pewter metals. Candelabras or candle wall sconces are traditional wall sconces, having a very elegant appearance.
Some companies make their sconces out of clay, leaving the natural look and feel of the material intact. Other than the light emanating from inside, they look like historic artifacts that may have come from an archaeological dig.
