The kitchen is a work area and as such needs to have lighting other than general purpose lighting. Take a look around at the dark spots in the kitchen. Maybe adding some under cabinet lighting would help showcase your counter tops while providing much needed light for that work area. Perhaps over the kitchen island there needs to be a series of small, more direct lighting fixtures to help in food preparation. Over the kitchen or dining room table, installing lights that can be on a dimming switch can create quite the mood. And when it's time to get the homework done with the kids, the switch can be turned up a few notches to insure proper light that will help with eye strain.
Another great way to light up your bar or island is with mini pendant lighting. These have become a very popular choose because they are so economical. There is also a wide variety to choose from. Many lighting companies offer mini pendant lighting in a variety of options like chain hung, rod hung, or cord hung. Many manufactures have also added a wide variety of glass options. Colored glass has become a very popular option that can add a different look to your kitchen.
Let’s begin with the purpose of your kitchen space. Sure, a kitchen is meant for making food, but it can also be a lot more than that. Think about the room that you use most in your house. Chances are that you are thinking about your kitchen.
