If you don't like metal sconces because they don't add up to your house's modern theme, try to go for crystal candles sconces for a much better effect. A lot of home owners today use candles as alternative lighting for the rooms inside the house. Candles bring a certain feeling of warmth and intimacy to any room. Try to light up a candle and your mood would change greatly for the better.
Another good spot to install wall sconces is your bathroom. Place a sconce squarely on both sides of the mirror, above the wash basin. Alternatively if room doesn't allow it, you could place them directly onto the mirror, maybe one on each of the lower or upper corners. The aesthetics of your bathroom will look their best if you use candles.
Made of natural materials, there are sconces fashioned in any number of shapes, from simple rectangles, semi-circles, stars, and cylinders to an inverted semi-circular stair step shape known as the ziggurat. There are many materials used including clay, ceramics, glass and various metals. Regardless of what style you choose, you will love the luminosity that filters through the sconce in a soft, ambient light. With the current technology in lighting, you will never have to squint when looking directly at them while lit.
However, I did run into a slight dilemma in the beginning. A lot of the metal wall sconces that I wanted for my home were a bit pricy. However, I did a little research, and I found a few web sites on-line that sold wrought iron wall sconces and they were more affordable than going to a regular store.
Other possible choices include wrought iron candle wall sconces. These sturdy pieces give a rustic look to your walls while still casting that soothing candlelight. Wrought iron sconces are generally handmade and are often combined with mirrored elements. They also harken back to an era where candles were the main source of light, so they add an antique flavor to your home.
